NIKKEI CUISINE

Our dishes are inspired by Nikkei, a cuisine not much older than a century.

This distinct style of cooking is the result of Japanese people migrating from their homeland to live in Peru, and the intermingling of cultures over the years.

Nikkei culture has created one of the most intriguing cuisines in the world, combining fresh Peruvian ingredients with traditional Japanese cooking techniques to create food that is fresh, vibrant and truly delicious.

CLAY’s a la carte menu features Japanese classics such as sushi, yakitori and wagyu beef, and Peruvian favourites like ceviche and tiraditos. But Nikkei shines as the flavours of both cultures combine and elevate on the plate.

We offer a traditional, unforgettable Japanese Omakase dining experience and tasting menu. On Saturdays we serve our massively popular CLAY Nikkei Brunch, which is not to be missed! On weekdays we offer a Business Lunch; a wonderful option for a business meeting, or special weekday lunch.

The Space

Discover & Explore

Find CLAY on Bluewaters Island, near the Ain Dubai observation wheel. Easy access, minimal traffic and abundant parking makes the trip to CLAY effortless, especially if travelling from Dubai Marina, Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR) and Jumeirah Lake Towers (JLT).

The CLAY interior is special, created by combining elements from Japanese and Peruvian cultures in both food and design. A warm, welcoming space full of intricate details, encouraging exploration and discovery.

CLAY’s interior incorporates lively South American colours alongside sleek Japanese black timber, creating a distinctive contrast, adding to the restaurant’s unique atmosphere. A standout feature is our hanging bead installation inspired by the Japanese calculator, soroban, or abacus.
